Yesterday evening we stopped at another "rest stop" along the way home. The place just looked like a huge tiki hut with an overhanging thatched roof and a grill in the center. I just don't see how all these restaurants and businesses manage without walls during the monsoon season. Of course, Ben and I are the only ones in the group who can't ever read the menus, so we have to go on the suggestions of others. Ben usually orders what Mien orders, and he's always happy with his choices. I had had enough meat-based meals, so I asked for a vegetable plate. I got a funny look, but Thuy ordered something she thought I would like. When it came to the table, it looked like a plate full of weeds gone to seed! Thuy said it was a plant related to the Marigold. It looked funny, but it was wonderful! Ben got something that looked like meat-filled crepe/pancake, and he said it was his best meal yet. Several times others in our party have commented on how well we were handling Vietnamese food. There's nothing to handle! I could eat like this for life! I'm not usually too concerned about what I eat, and I'm not big on spending a rare free evening at a restaurant, but here, I think half my posts have involved food!
