We had a change of plans! Two hours after we arrived in Ho Chi Minh City, we were taken to the Christina Noble Center and were allowed to bring Ephraim back to the hotel with us. We leave early in the morning by van for Kien Giang, the province of Ephraim's birth. Our travel partners for the entire process are Minh and Jade, a really sweet Vietnamese-American couple who are adopting their first child, Olivia. Christina Noble Center is amazing! It is a privately-run nutrition center for premature children and those with malnutrition or other eating problems. Ephraim has lived there since he was 30 days old. It is so well kept up, spotlessly clean, and the nannies truly love all the children. When we arrived, the children were all being fed, so our first glimpse of Ephraim was with a spoon in his mouth. The pictures show several children being fed; Thuy, our wonderful CHI Vietnam rep/interpreter/tour guide; Ben and me holding Ephraim for the first time; Ephraim next to Julia Claire (held by Minh), the daughter of another CHI mom who was expected to also travel with us but whose case was delayed; Minh and Jade with Olivia;, the nannies dressing Ephraim in his going-away clothes; each nanny holding Ephraim and saying goodbye; the whole group of nannies with Ephraim, Jade and Olivia; and all of us leaving the Christina Noble Center.
